São Paulo, May 1, 2025 – Founder of The Tetris Company and a key figure in the global success of one of the world’s most iconic games, Henk Rogers led an inspiring panel on Wednesday (May 1) at gamescom latam 2025, titled “Tetris: The Story Behind the ‘Perfect Game’.” In addition to revisiting pivotal moments in gaming history, Rogers shared insights from his journey as an entrepreneur and spoke about his current mission focused on sustainability through the Blue Planet Alliance.
During the session, Rogers recounted the challenges he faced negotiating the rights to Tetris with the government of the former Soviet Union. “I was interrogated because I looked too suspicious: a Dutch guy who looked American, had an office in Japan, and spoke Russian. They sent two agents to confirm if my story was real,” he recalled.
He also spoke about the recent Tetris movie, which he co-produced, and the release of his new book, available in Portuguese exclusively for gamescom latam. “I decided to write the book because I felt the film was too Hollywood. I wanted to tell my version of the story in more depth. It ended up being not just about Tetris, but about my life before and after it.”
Alongside never-before-shared stories that didn’t make it into the book, Rogers offered an inspiring message to the gamescom audience: “When you decide to do something, nothing should stop you,” he said. “This is a story about starting from scratch, building a company, and taking risks. If it goes wrong, dust yourself off and try again.”
