São Paulo, May 3, 2025 – The gamescom latam e-sports arena sponsored by Claro was the stage for one of the most electrifying moments in esports: the grand final of the Brazilian leg of the Pro Kompetition, the Mortal Kombat 1 championship that brought together some of the fiercest fighters in the world for a series of intense, comeback-filled matches.
The final showdown featured YTECZ, representing Brazil, and Nicolas from Chile. The two had already faced each other earlier in the tournament, with YTECZ sending Nicolas to the losers bracket. Determined to return, Nicolas defeated Lavender Rain—who secured third place—and fought his way back to the grand final.
In the final match, YTECZ remained consistent and relied on his trusted duo: Sektor and Motaro. On the other side, Nicolas started with Takeda and Jax, but after losing two rounds, switched to Johnny Cage and Tremor. Despite the tactical change, it wasn’t enough to stop the Brazilian momentum: YTECZ took the match 3–1, securing the championship undefeated.
This was YTECZ’s second in-person appearance at the tournament. Last year, he fell short of reaching the finals. Now, he not only celebrates the title but also the energy of the crowd: “The crowd makes all the difference. Last year I didn’t place well, but this year I won. From now on, I intend to stay at this level,” said the champion.
The result cements Brazil’s status as a powerhouse in the Latin American Mortal Kombat 1 scene and highlights gamescom latam as a key platform for emerging talent in the region.
