São Paulo, May 1, 2025 – The gaming industry in Latin America is experiencing one of its most promising moments, despite ongoing structural and geopolitical challenges. This was the central theme of a panel held on Thursday (May 1) at gamescom latam 2025, which brought together leaders from regional studios to discuss the role of Latin American developers in the global digital games market.
With the participation of Jorge Suarez Basañez (Amber), Luiza Guerreiro (Plot Interactive, formerly Plot Kids), and Martin Cao (Nimble Giant Entertainment), the discussion emphasized how resilience and international collaboration have been essential in expanding the region’s presence in the global gaming industry.
“Technology can help us solve many of the issues we face in Latin America,” said Luiza Guerreiro, underscoring the importance of investing in innovation and strong local support networks.
Martin Cao, from Nimble Giant Entertainment, highlighted the current geopolitical landscape as an opportunity: “Right now, we might be the most stable region in the world. We’re used to dealing with the same crises, and that has made us more prepared. I believe this is the best moment for Latin America—not just for the gaming industry, but overall.”
Jorge Suarez Basañez, from Amber, added a reflection on the region’s creative identity: “I think this is a Latin American trait—we work really hard. Sometimes it takes us a bit longer to learn, but we always find a way. We’re creative because we have to be. We’re always facing challenges, and that teaches us to innovate.”
The panel also reinforced the importance of international partnerships and the strengthening of regional networks to overcome common barriers such as lack of funding. The final message from participants was clear: Latin America has everything it needs to become a global hub for game development—provided it continues to invest in collaboration, talent development, and technology.
